Stir-fried, deep-fried, steamed and baked…

Our home community is quite closely knitted thanks to similar age ranges and lifestyles. Last Sunday six of us (3 homes) went to try this small eatery called Ta Yang on Soi Ngamduplee off Rama 4. From outside, the place looks like an office, but their Chinese food are good/interesting. Here’s my favorite – stir-fried green beans with chilies and fresh garlic…(Bt100)

And my new found favorite – ‘aubergine french fries’ (Bt100) made from peeled and deep-fried green eggplant coated with a ‘special’ secret sweet / tangy sauce… so crunchy and tasty that we ordered twice.

There are also the usual – such as pot stickers stuffed with minced pork and chives. There are also the steamed version of the dish, too (Bt80). But I prefer the fried / crispy ones (above). My neighbours also liked ‘cold seaweed salad.’ (Bt50)

We also ordered one shrimp fried rice (Bt60), shrimp tempura (Bt160), stir-fried eggplant with minced pork (Bt80) and we paid just Bt200 per person. But since they serve no desserts, we had to drive out for some Swensen’s before going back home.

The taste is good, but I doubt the place’s hygiene because my husband and I once ventured upstairs and had to pass its kitchen where the truth was revealed!! AHHH!! We hope that the heat had killed everything though. The place is tiny with just 5-6 tables (and some more upstairs), reservations are recommended especially during weekends. Parking is conveniently available at the opposite Chan Phen Restaurant. Don’t forget to validate your parking ticket before leaving.
